Can't close microsoft Photo to update system

Microsoft Photo is frozen. I cannot use it to open any pics on my computer, nor can I quit Photo to update the system.

Hello,

Did you mean the Photos app that came with macOS? I am not sure there is a version of Microsoft Photos for Mac.

You could try holding the Option key down and clicking the Photos icon in the Dock...you should then see Force Quit in the menu that pops up.
