Looking for advice please.
Have an old 13inch Macbook( end 2007) running Snow Leopard. Processor 2.2GHz. Memory 4GB.
Could I realistically upgrade the software - and to what level ?

*This system can run the last version of OS X 10.7 "Lion" if upgraded to at least 2 GB of RAM. It is not supported booting into 64-bit mode when running Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard." It does not support "OpenCL" either. Please also note that OS X Lion is not capable of running Mac OS X apps originally written for the PowerPC processor as it does not support the "Rosetta" environment.

So, according to the link Spawn_Dooley provided, the maximum OS you can upgrade to is OS 10.7.5. Remember, though, that you'll also need to make sure to upgrade any software you have (if necessary). Also, if you are using any software that was originally written for the PowerPC processor, it will not run once you upgrade.

They are correct - Late 2007 MacBooks are limited to Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5. honestone made a great point about any of the software you may be currently running that was written for PPC - Snow Leopard 10.6.8 is the last OS that supports it via Rosetta.
