I had a spill on my MacBook Pro and unfortunately the keys effected are some used to type in my password so I can't access my mac. Will it be possible to plug in any USB keyboard and be able to instantly use it as a temporary fix?

Hello and welcome.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Depending on the severity of the spill, you should be able to use an external USB keyboard normally. Hopefully though, the liquid didn't get down between the keys deep enough to damage any of the other internal components. Those symptoms could take anywhere from a day or two, to weeks/months to appear.

We highly recommend that you ensure you have a current Time Machine or other backup of your data, and that you take your Mac to an Apple Store or third-party Apple Authorized Service Provider to get it fully checked out.

Good luck,

C
