Blue & Grey Screen

Most the time it will make it to the blue screen and stop, or sometimes grey. I deleted unneeded files, went into disk utility. It will start in safe mode but then no wifi. The laptop (os x 10.4.11) will freeze 100% and I will have to shut it by holding the power button. (Will also freeze in single user mode) Im wondering what I can do myself, im scared of dropping it off at apple and the price in end.

You could try booting from your Tiger install disc, pressing C at start up tone then navigating to Disc Utility and Verifying the Disc & Repairing Permissions then rebooting … There is typically no WiFi in Safe Mode.
