What are the new recommendations? Is Norton still the standard? Or is there something better?
I've been using Norton since I bought my eMac and have been very happy with it. However, if you don't want to dish out money every year for an update here's a free anti virus app far Mac that many of my Mac friends are using, not to mention ranting and raving about. What are the new recommendations? Is Norton still the standard? Or is there something better?
Contrary to popular belief, although they're far from being common, there are viruses for the Mac platform but the main reason that I have an antivirus program on my Mac is because I want to protect my Windows friends just in case.why would you want to use antivirus on mac?
Thanks Spawn, nice to see ya. Around a year back or so I was a bit bored and ended up looking up my name on the net. Sure enough I clicked on a link to a web page and downloaded a virus. Good old Norton ate that sucker up! I've heard many complaints about Norton from Mac users claiming that Norton will destroy your Mac but I've had it installed on my eMac going on four years and the eMac is still alive and doing quite well!Well said W666! Mac OS can still carry and pass on virus nasties to susceptible platforms.
