Batch search files from data file

I'm not sure I've entered the correct title. This is what I want to do:

- I've got an excel file with article numbers: 2234, 5565, 7786 etc.
- I need to search image files containing those numbers, but not only these numbers: 2234 Sarah.jpg, Peter 5565.jpg, 7786DrPolSun.tif
- Then I need to tag the file (not label it)

Is this possible with Automator? Or perhaps AppleScript?

I love Hazel and I already use it for tagging and moving files. But it does not have the ability to search for files named in a database.
