The original OS High Sierra was functioning fine. and I made a grave mistake in going to Monterrey (intel). It is running super slow and plugins that worked fine on High Sierra no longer work. Pages flip without my doing so. Other than reverting back to High Sierra I there another solution. And what is the easiest way to go back to the original OS- Thanks for your help

Hello,

-Some of you software may need a newer version to run in Monterey
-What plug-ins are running super slow - in what application(s)?
-What do you mean by pages flip?

The only way to revert back to High Sierra is a complete erase and install, or by installing it on an external drive to use as the startup drive.

Hi

Thanks for your response. I did not mean to imply that the plugins are slow, but that many of the plugins that functioned. well on High¡ Sierra do not work at all on Monterrey. The plugins I am referring to are for music on GarageBand. And most are situated in an iLoc account which is a requirement for many plugin developers. When I contact these developers the answers vary,One that I thought could resolve the problem was that there seems to be a problem between iLok and Apple. When I contact iLok they admitted as much. That's a problem that is completely out of my hands, but I´m pissed that the thousands of dollars I spent on these plugins are unusable.

Thanks again for your help

PS-Frankly moving to OS Monterrey was a stupid error of mine. My computer runs at tortoise speed and when I say pages flip is that without my doing anything programs change.

No worries.

I own tons of audio plug-ins...probably over a thousand from 150+ companies. What brand/plug-ins aren't compatible, as 99% of mine work on an M1 Mac mini running Monterey in Logic Pro, Pro Tools Studio, Universal Audio LUNA, and GarageBand. Some require Logic Pro to run in Rosetta, due to no native Apple Silicon support. A few from 2012 and earlier do not load at all.

How much free space on your drive?
Have you tried disabling  > System Preferences... > Accessibility > Display > Reduce motion and Reduce transparency?
Do you have any third-party utilities like MacKeeper, Intego, antivirus, etc. running and having real-time monitoring enabled?
Are you running GarageBand as the only application open at the time?

Hi,

Also, what brand/plug-ins are having the issue and are the built-in plug-ins experiencing the same slowness?
