Attaching pdf to e-mails

I am attempting to send pdf files to a PC owner. When I attach the pdf to my e-mail, it becomes embedded in the e-mail body and is NOT an attachment. The PC owner cannot see the pdf when it is embedded. He wants it as an "attachment". What can I do?
