I have two 4k Siri Remotes, one with a cracked touchpad and other with water damage. I want to swap broken touchpad and buttons (front cover) with one that is not cracked. But doesn’t work after swapping. Is there parts pairing between touchpad and main logic board of Siri Remote and can I swap out a chip to get working. Love to tinker either electronics and fix things rather than just send to landfill or recycle. By the way it’s the black remote

I’ve looked into this, and it seems the Siri Remote does have parts pairing between the touchpad and the main logic board, so swapping them likely won’t work without additional reprogramming. Unfortunately, swapping a chip to bypass pairing isn’t straightforward, but I admire your effort to fix rather than toss!

The Siri Remote is pretty tightly designed, so swapping the touchpad or front cover (with the buttons) probably won’t work. The touchpad and the main board are paired together, and they communicate through specific components. It’s not just a simple swap. They’re usually paired during manufacturing, so unless you can reprogram or re-pair them, it’s not going to function right.

You could try replacing the faulty parts individually, but swapping parts from different remotes probably won’t work without special tools or knowledge to re-pair the hardware. It’s awesome that you love tinkering, but this might be a bit trickier than it looks!
