App Store Download

After a drive corruption and failure to reboot I have reinstalled everything off a time capsule, that part worked successfully. Unfortunately about 6 months ago to save space I stopped Time Capsule from backing up my Applications folder thinking I could just download everything again from their respective sites and the app store. But with the reinstall i have no Mail app, System settings app, iWork etc and most annoyingly no App Store app.

It seems I need the App Store app to download the App Store app (surely not Apple).

Any suggestions as to how to proceed?

-How/where did you get the OS X installer?
