I just saw this:
https://www.macworld.com/article/32...-bug-unlock-app-store-system-preferences.html
I just tried it, and sure enough, after clicking on the Lock Icon to unlock it, the typical ID/password screen appeared. My admin user name was already filed in, and I entered a different password than the one "attached" to my admin user name. Sure enough, that was accepted, and the lock icon changed to an unlock icon.
Why has Apple screwed up High Sierra so much with security issues? Really, really disturbing. For this latest one, though, at least I am the only person that uses either of my Macs, so it is not too "serious". But who knows what other security things Apple "messed" up in High Sierra?
