Airport extreme can't find Hard Drive

I've just purchased a used Airport Extreme from a friend at work. Didnt come with any software. I plugged it in and was easily able to reset it and get the router working. It wont however pick up my external hard drive i've got plugged into it. Hard drive is formatted to my Mac book Pro. 1TB. Any help with troubleshooting ideas, or even links to where i could find info would be greatly appreciated.

You can download the setup software from Apple Downloads

I'm not sure at what model, but the early Extremes only shared Printers not Drives.

Its Version 7.6 the guy using it before me had a 1tb working just fine through it.
