Whenever i go to 'about this mac', it comes with a number instead of the os? I downloaded Xquartz and i'm not sure if that has anything to do with it? It's frustrating because i literally have no idea about it ahaha. Performance, nor nothing else, is hindered. But it just seems really odd... Instead of displaying 'OS X Yoshemite' or whatever, it's just showing a 6 digit series of numbers. If anyone could help with either an explanation or furthermore a solution... That would be very much appreciated:) Cheers!

Hello and welcome.

I have heard of this issue. A fix to try is to switch the Preferred language and/or Region settings in Apple > System Preferences... > Language & Region. Try switching to and from English (U.S.), English - (U.K.), or English (Australia) in the Preferred language section.

It also seems to only affect Yosemite - specifically 10.10.2 and 10.10.1.
