4hdd/11/40000000:sata (0,0)

This thread is on the behalf on my Dad, he owns a Mac (model, I do not know).

Problems:

Takes a very long time turning on.

Gets the "Spinning wheel of death" nearly all the time.
After a hardware check the following error code appears "4HDD/11/40000000:SATA(0,0)

But then no error codes after the next 2 tests.


Any advice will be much appreciated.​

Thank you for responding so fast, I've had a look at the link you posted. It doesnt really give me a straight answer, it mentions alot about HHD would need replacing. Just want to make sure if its 100% correct that the HHD is faulty becuase I don't really want to waste my Dad's money if this isn't the solution.

Is there any other checks he can do?

Hi,

Really think this is a sign of future hard ware failure, thus I would recommend doing a full backup (TM), then book into a genius bar at your nearest Apple store.

Could be the sata controller, but truthfully I feel it is the HD.
