I am trying to upgrade ram on a Macbook Pro A1278

MacBook Pro 13-inch Mid 2012 A1278

Two RAM Memory processors -- 4 GB in total (2 x 2GB; original hardware)

Trying to upgrade to 16GB

I am using:

Timetec 16GB KIT(2x8GB) Compatible for Apple DDR3L 1600MHz for Early/Mid/Late Mac Book Pro(2011-2012), iMac(2011-2015), Mac Mini(2011-2012) MAC RAM

After install the laptop does not boot up; Just 3 beeps.

I reinstalled the old RAM (2 x 2GB) ram and the laptop boots up normally.

Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome.

Three beeps means the RAM didn't pass the integrity check. If the new RAM causes those error tones and the original RAM doesn't, it sounds like the new RAM may be faulty.

Thanks for the reply. I'll order a different brand of RAM and try.
