I have an imac G3 running 10.3.9 - at some point in the future I intend to upgrade the machine so don't want to spend money upgrading the system (and I don't think I have the memory for that).

In the meantime I'm using a Dell lap top that I'm borrowing from a friend and I'd like to find a way to move my music files from the imac to the pc.

I was going to buy an icloud subscription as I have that on my ipad mini (and could then move it back to whatever mac I buy in the future) but it won't work with 10.3.9 and a lot of the external hard drives I look at don't seem to support 10.3.9 either. Is it even possible to use one hard drive from a mac to a pc?

Is there anything else I can try or have I lost that music? Can you help?

Thanks!

Hi,

Did this on a friends PC the other day and worked fine, but it was with a 2008 MBP

1) Open finder
2) Open music folder
3) Look for the folder called iTunes
4) Now right click and copy it to an external USB hard drive, formatted as FAT32.
Its destination is the "Music" folder on the Dell
5) Once pasted close the music folder.
6) Now reopen the Dells "iTunes" folder and locate the file named "iTunes Library" and rename it to "iTunes Library.itl" (that is, add a file extension of "itl" to the file name).

NOTE
I don't think you will be able to copy any file larger than 4GB at a time.
Also remember this will replace the original Dells iTunes folder.

(A)Possibly you could network them and set up Windows file sharing.;)

(B)Or you could also use multiple burned DVDs, but this is not a good and requires a proficient user.:(
